Who can attend the endometriosis and pelvic pain clinic?:

This service is not designed to replace your usual GP care, but to provide specific assessment and management for eligible patients.

Online bookings for this clinic are not available - please read on to find out how to access the service. We can accept direct patient referrals using our referral form and referrals from other GP clinics or health professionals via Medical Objects . (Fellow GPs – please stay tuned for a Health Pathways update coming in the next couple of weeks.)

This clinic is part of a larger pilot program Australia wide to look at different ways of providing excellent care to those with endometriosis and pelvic pain.

You must have one of the following conditions/medical problems to attend the clinic:

  • A previous diagnosis of endometriosis with pain that is not adequately managed, or possible symptoms of endometriosis that have not been fully investigated.

  • Persistent pelvic pain for more than 5 days per month that has not been fully investigated or is not managed by your existing healthcare team iwhich may include your GP, physiotherapist and other specialists/ allied health providers.

The endometriosis and pelvic pain clinic is not designed for the following situations:

  • Those with endometriosis/pelvic pain that is well managed or who already have a care team in place seeking regular GP care only.

  • Period pain lasting 1-2 days only that is easily managed with medications such as panadol and simple painkillers and does not impact school, work, exercise or other activities of daily life.

  • Women with known or suspected endometriosis who are seeking surgery (laparoscopy) only and do not want a wholistic/ team approach to care including lifestyle changes, medications if appropriate, physiotherapy or other allied health input, with specialist referral if needed. (Your own GP can arrange this referral)

  • Fertility concerns without pain: please see your own GP for a referral to an appropriate service local to you.

How to contact us:

If you would like to be seen at the clinic(in person or by Telehealth for this who don’t live nearby), you can email us at info@neighbourhoodmedical.com.au and we will send you an information leaflet and referral form. This includes information on any fees to expect. The first visit with our nurse has no out of pocket cost attached. Some of our other services will be fully grant funded but due to conditions relating to the grant funding and the wish to help as many people as we can, fees apply to most GP visits.

While you wait, we highly recommend taking a look at sites such QENDO here and Endozone here if you haven’t already– both great hubs with a wealth of information designed to empower and educate. Our own blog page here also contains information on endometriosis, pelvic pain and other women’s health issues.

You can also choose to attend Neighbourhood Medical as a regular patient separate to the clinic. If you would like to book an appointment with one of the women’s health GPs consulting at Neighbourhood Medical, feel free to phone our lovely reception team on 07 35196963 or book online.
