Dr Louisa Gilles
Dr Louisa Gilles is an experienced general practitioner, having practiced in Brisbane’s western suburbs since 2007. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001. Louisa holds a Diploma from the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, a Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of GPs and a National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health.
Louisa enjoys seeing people of all ages and stages of life, including children and young adults. She has extra skills in managing all aspects of women’s health. She is an experienced inserter of both copper and hormonal intra-uterine devices and can provide complex contraceptive advice. She enjoys providing care to women at the peri-menopausal and menopausal stage of life and is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society.
Louisa is one of the GPs at Neighbourhood Medical seeing patients as part of the endometriosis and pelvic pain clinic.
Taking a collaborative approach with her patients is important to Louisa. She enjoys the rewards that come with the role of the GP in providing continuity of care.
Louisa also has a strong interest in medical education. She supervises medical students and general practice registrars, examines for the Royal Australian College of GPs and has been a trainer for the Family Planning Association of Australia. She loves learning and continuing to improve her skills and knowledge.
For leisure Louisa loves hiking up Mt Coot-tha, tries to find herself on her yoga mat regularly, and is cultivating an edible native garden. At home she enjoys spending time with her husband, two busy high school aged girls, and adorable groodle.
